Land of the Lost 2009 Movie Review

Land of the Lost was released in movie theatres Jun 5, 2009. This movie was based on the classic TV series by Sid and Marty Krofft. This movie comedy was directed by Brad Silberling and stars Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny McBride, and Jorma Taccone.

We did not expect much with this movie as we knew it was to be about a scientist sucked through time. But, it was a pleasant surprise. It was fun to see the cheesy special effects, dinosaurs, and strange sights.

The Proposal Movie Review

The Proposal, directed by Anne Fletcher, was released at movie theatres Jun 19, 2009. This movie stars Sandra Bullock, Malin Akerman, Craig T. Nelson, and Ryan Reynolds. This movie had a good storyline and pleasant romance that develops between Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. We didn’t expect much, watching this movie, but were pleasantly surprised.

In the beginning of the movie, Sandra Bullock makes Ryan Reynolds fill a romantic role in her life for her position at work. As the movie goes on, they go to Alaska and Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds argue quite a lot. Eventually they find they actually are interested in each other in a romantic way. We found the scenes in this movie set in Alaska with Ryan Reynolds family dog and Sandra Bullock to be quite funny.

The Taking of Pelham 123 Movie Review

The Taking of Pelham 123 was a good movie. In this 2009 movie, Denzel Washington and John Travolta negotiate as John Travolta has taken control of a New York City subway train, hijacking it. Denzel Washington is a subway dispatcher in New York City who has a past to hide. John Travolta uses his past against him. This is a good movie, clever at parts. Through the movie, we see Denzel Washington’s character  grow, and John Travolta’s character get more and more upset. We would recommend this movie for a good basic New York action movie.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Movie Review

We found Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to be a pretty good movie. Pretty good in this movie means that it had good action, effects, and long length. The story is not strong in this movie, but that is not something we expected. When watching a movie such as this, about alien robots on Earth (Autobots) fighting against their enemies (Decepticons), it is important not to expect the strongest storyline possible. This movie was released June 24, 2009.

This 2009 movie was directed by Michael Bay. It stars Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Megan Fox, and Josh Duhamel. The conclusion of the movie, in Egypt, was quite impressive with spectacular special effects.

Up Movie Review

Pixar’s latest release, Up, was quite a surprise. From the trailers, we thought this would not be that great a movie. But, once we started watching it, we found it to be one of Pixar’s best movies yet. This movie seems that it would be just a movie about an old man and a kid. In reality it turns out to be about a kid with many adventure dreams who eventually became an old man. As an old man, he embarks on an adventure. Due to his home being in danger, he flys away in his house with it attached to balloons. His adventure is with a small kid and both grow quite a bit as a result of their adventure.

What we liked best about this movie were the many good life lessons for children and adults. We counted at least 5, if not 10 wholesome lessons that can be learned from this movie. It is a happy movie at parts, and sad at others. For sure, this movie is worth watching.

Terminator Salvation Movie Review

Terminator Salvation, directed by McG, was released May 21 of 2009. The whole movie is shot in a grey low saturation style, almost looking like it is a viedo game. Some stars in this movie include Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, and Moon Bloodgood. This latest part of the Terminator series is one of the best yet. In our opinion, Terminator Salvation is as good as the original Terminator movie was. This movie is not only packed with special effects, but a strong storyline as well.

Terminator Salvation is set in the year 2018. Christian Bale is set to lead the resistance against Skynet’s Terminators. There are quite a lot of twists and turns in this movie as characters are built. The conclusion of the movie, at Skynet, is impressive.

State of Play

State of Play is a pretty good movie. It stars Russel Crowe and Ben Affleck in contrasting positions of friends but later enemies. Russel Crowe is a reporter who realizes he is on a big case that no one else realized was so big. As he digs down through evidence, he finds that things are very complex. Besides one large company being at the root of many issues, so is Ben Afflect in the end.

Wolverine X-Men Origins movie review

The Wolvering X-Men Origins movie was better in my opinion than many other reviewers felt. This movie had a strong storyline. We find out who Wolverine is, who he loved, and what happened to him that later motivates him. Wolverine starts out already a mutant in this movie, and his bone claws have a special metal attached throughout his body from a special procedure. Although he makes it through the procedure alive, he escapes so that his memory is not erased by the bad guys. His original best friend as well as his leader is out to get him. Finally he is tracked down and has to fight for his life, other mutants, and his girl. Of course there is a happy ending but the option for more movies to come.

2009 Star Trek movie review

Star Trek was quite a fun movie to watch. This movie created a perfect marriage between the old star trek shows and a new style of look and feel. In fact, they kept many scenes looking like you’re watching the original show. The special effects were terrific. The story really built up everything from the ground up. There was action, drama, romance, and suspense. There were no times we felt that the movie was going too slow.
