It is totally possible to take care of SEO in house at a company. This is best done by hiring an internal SEO expert to manage an external SEO Company or vendor. Having an external SEO company is the best way to use extensive experience of experts to eliminate mistakes and possible wasted time the company may spend.
Some people tell companies not to hire SEO companies since they think the basics of SEO are easy. In our opinion, telling a company not to hire a professional SEO company is like telling a restaurant that since cooking is easy there is no need to hire a skilled chef. Sure, SEO or cooking can be easy to do one simple task here and there, but to do things well, extensive experience is needed.
